Happy New Year to all! It's time to take down the Christmas ornaments and pack them up for next year. I just want to say I am proud to be a member of the best club around. I appreciate the help support that I get from you guys and gals. I am excited about the 2015 flying season. I am, however, concerned about new regulations from the FAA. It's like a dark cloud hanging over our head. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the AMA can make a difference. Think positive! I hope 2015 is a good year for each of you. Now let's fly some airplanes! See you at the field.

Well, it's time for New Years resolutions. FLY MORE!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as President of such a wonderful club! I hope I don't disappoint. Life if full of ups and downs and the unexpected but one thing that makes it more enjoyable for those with the affliction is to fly our toys.

We have a few projects that need to be executed in the next couple of years and there are some differences of opinion that we need to work through but at the end of the day we all have the same goal. FLY OUR TOYS and HAVE FUN! Let's not lose sight of that. I think we can come up with a feasible plan that we all can live with.

We have a few dedicated hard working members that make things happen. I think you know who they are. We could use a few more of those. If there is something you would like to see done at the field that would make it better, jump on in and make it happen. You might be surprised how many people are willing to help if you just ask. If this involves club financial resources get with one of the officers and we will discuss further as a group.

I am proud to be a member of the York County Flyers. I enjoy the fellowship, camaraderie, and friendships a great deal. That's what make this club great! Don't forget the reason we are all here....FLY....FUN!

    Happy 2014 to all!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

As of today Brent Good takes over as President of our great club.  I wanted to thank everyone for being a member of the best club in the Charlotte area.  We indeed have a great group.  As a whole we have our differences but we do have fun and respect each others portion of the hobby.  I cant express this enough.  We do have a special group.

I hope that each of you looks ahead to the future of our organization.  We have purchased the new storage container to keep our valuble lawn equipment in.  Not a small thing.  Its something that was talked about for years but was always dropped.  Well now we have it and its in a new location that we can improve our field to make it larger and more user friendly.  The future looks good for the field.

The Heli area isnt getting the use I thought it would.  The economy has kept some of the regulars away but Im sure this will change and it will become more active.  The crew did a great job getting the shader built and operational.  All in all the improvements have benifitted the entire club.

Here is what we need to keep this club as great as it is.  People to step up and take charge.  We have the regulars but we need others to do the same thing.  They say 10% of a club does 100% of the work.  Well its more like 7%.  Come on people.  We have 100 members or so.  We need help....

This year looks busy with Flyin's and other events.  One thing about the members is that you will probably find another of our members at one of these big events.  Please come join the fun.  Being a member isnt just about the planes its about the friendship.

So thank you for allowing me to be the Pres for a few years.  Hopefully I can help again when eligible. (Some how I dont thnk it will be a problem).  You guys are tops. 8-)

    Jeff.  Im outta here.

I wasnt there today because I have to spend 7 days suffering at work........ Oh its in the Turks and Caicous Island so dont feel too bad for me...

    Everyone

Since we had such a dismal turn out for the club meeting it was decided that we will hold the nominations at the next meeting and vote at the end of the meeting.  These are for the Pres and VP of our club.

It must have been a busy day for the club members as the weather was very nice with little to no wind.  The SE reg. IMAC contest was going on in Jacksonville FL and a few of our guys were in attendance.  I hear Justin did very well.

OK there you have it.  Nominations at the beginning of the meeting and the vote at the end.  Then the raffle for the gift certificate.  Maybe we will have more than 10 to show up.

    Hello Everyone.

The YCF has their own election in December.  So think of who you would like to be your new Pres. and VP.

Myself and Jim Carrolll have been the Pres and VP for the last 2 years and our term is up.  This means the membership needs to choose a new set.  So at tomorrow's meeting we will be making this choice.

I know this is what you all get excited for.  I for one kind of enjoyed being the Pres.  The pay was sooo good.  lol  I only encountered a few hassles and a few bumps in the road.  With the help of Jim and Jason we even got a few people on April Fools day.  A couple of scathing emails about the change came and we got a good laugh out of it.  Really did you think we would change our great club to a sailplane only field.  I still laugh about this.

If you havent been to the field lately you will see the new storage container.  We have big plans to improve our field.  I think these changes will be good for the over all membership.

I could go on but we have a meeting tomorrow and can discuss all the major points tomorrow.  Please come on out.  It will be cold in the am so dress warm.  I will bring coffee.....

Thats it everyone.  Come out or possibly get nominated for a position if you dont show..

    Ok Everyone.

We have the DNC coming to Charlotte starting today...  So you ask what does this mean to me.  Well as a club member flying at our club we need to check the NOTAM's on the AMA web site to make sure the airspace is not closed.

I know they are toy planes and is this really gonna keep bad guys from doing anything.  NO, BUT if there is a threat it makes it easier for the counter measures to be used in case of an attack.  OK thats my story and Im sticking to it.

I do know that there are multiple agencies looking over the CLT airspace at all times during the convention.  These include. of all people NORAD, FAA, TSA, ATC. and a few other acromyms I dont know.  They take security very serious.

These TFR's dont effect our field the whole time.  Check them if your going to the field.  I believe the big one is on wed. evening and thursday nite.  Its a 30 mile radius of the convention center and is floating with the movement of the president.  He will be in Ballentine area so the 30 miles floats in the direction when he is there.

Please guys check these out I dont want anyone causing problems.  Its in Nov when we get a new President....... Did I just say that.... 8-)

    Hello everyone.

As the header says.  Summer time.  Its been very hot this year so far.  As a safety reminder stay hydrated.  There is water in the trailer.  This is by far the best thing you can drink with the very hot conditions.  If you stop sweating drink water and stay in the shade.  I have a few good friends in Atlanta that got dehydrated last summer and it almost killed him.  Believe it or not we want you around the group for a long time to come.

Recently I had the chance to represent the club to a few organizations.  2 Bible schools and Camp Canaan in Rock Hill.  All the presentations were brief as the young crowd we had can stand me talk for about 10-15 mins.  I showed my Gliders and the Crack Yak.  The Yak was a big hit as they saw the stuff the airplane can do in a small area.  The Camp Canaan will be asking us to come again.  They gave us 2 hours so next time we should come better prepared for time given.  Norm was a big help here and had a few ideas.

The August Fun Fly will be here very shortly.  volunteer, help with concessions and impound/registration. events don't happen by themselves it's the club members that make it happen.  The Fallen Eagles Electric Event has been scheduled and Russ will need help there too.  Help make it a group effort.

We will have a new Porta Potty installed this week.  The old was just getting in bad condition. At the DLG contest a contestant was stung by a wasp but he shook it off and we took care of the problem.  But with the cost of the rental unit it was found feasible to just get a new one we will rent month to month.

The IMAC and Sailplane guys have been busy this summer.  Former member Primo was at the NATS and was 3rd in Advanced.  Avery Poole also from are area was a 3rd place winner in his division.  If my memory is right he won either free style or one of the unknown events.  Bob, Russ and myself attended THE BRUCE in Shelbyville KY.  It was Africa Hot there.  104  degrees for both days.  Bob had a nagging back problem that forced him out early.  Russ had 2 midairs and I broke 3 planes.  So it was a bad showing this year for our group.

Bob Whitney and I will be headed out to Muncie IN for the Soaring part of the NATS.  2 days of DLG followed by 3 days of Thermal Duration and followed up with F3J.  I am pretty sure I'll be pretty done and burnt out after a week of competition.  Ill send a link to follow the events at a later time.  The NATS news is up to date by early morning every day.  Its an exciting time with lots of flying.

OK everyone.  Have fun flying this summer but stay safe.  If you have problems with anything please come to your club officers.  I will take care of problems when they occur.  I do not confront people by e-mail.  I do isn't face to face so there isnt any mis-interpritations of the point trying to be made.  We are all friends so lets keep it that way.  Remember.... They are toy airplanes 8-)

    Thanks

    Hi Everyone

The spring time has started out very well.  Our Fun Fly event in April was great.  We had I believe over 30 attend the fly inn.  The weather was very good.  Jim did great as the CD and the event went very smooth.  Way to go guys.  Thank Cindi Carroll as she was the only kitchen help this year.  She did good.  Darrly and his friend took over the cooking.  Thanks guys.

SEFF was a ball.  It was very windy the first part of the week but ended with nice weather and mild temps.  Some of the regular's couldn't make it due to things that came up but we had fun with out you.  JJ and Brent put on a great Huckfeast.  I need to start my diet over again. lol.  Bob Whitney this year won the Limited Motor Run Contest.  Kudo's to him.  Next year should be better as the field was at limited use due to the fact they were trying to grow grass.  The Flight Lines were rearranged accommodate the planting and was a little inconvient but still a great event.

I just returned from Joe Nall.  All I can say is wow!!  We have some great people in our Hobby.  I saw a lot of club members while walking around looking at all the cool aircraft.  The vendor area was nice and their were many new planes.  I hit all areas of the event.  i took my wife and 2 girls with me and they really enjoyed it.  I camped with them and got to meet many new people.  It is a very family friendly event.  They accepted me a glider guy and let me hang out with all of them.  Pretty nice people down there.  I might have to get one of the Extreme Flight planes when the Big MXS comes out.  I'm a glider guy but these were too cool.  Oh and if you like to see carnage... Yep it happens there.

Rumor has it that Gary our garbage man has moved.  I have a person in mind for this position and we will get right on it.  If its true Gary has moved I want to personally thank him for doing a great job for the last couple of years.  We take for granted some of the small things that need done for our club.  Gary has done his part for some time.  Thanks again Gary

    WARNING

If you have not paid your dues, do it now.  The gate lock combination has now been changed.  Its almost june so the club dues should be paid.

Thats all I have.  Im looking forward to the flying season as I hope you are too.

Its been a while since I have put out a new message but let me see if I can bore you for a few minutes.

The club has been pretty active.  We had a work day just a few weeks ago and the crew did a good job getting the road cleaned up.  We have a few items we will be discussing at the next meeting.  Field improvements and some other things.

I see Keith has been fooling with the pictures on the Web site.  did'nt see Daves P-47 but some "Glider Guy" on their.  Thanks for the change and hopefully the rotation of pictures will continue.

The first Fun Fly of the year is in April so mark your canlender for this.  Jim Carroll is the CD so lets go and support him and our club.  The IMAC and other contest season is getting spooled up.  I know Brent, Justin, JJ and Daniel will be practicing for their end of the sport.  Bob, Russ and myself will be hitting the sailplane curcuit soon as the season really picks up in a few weeks.

SEFF. Are you ready??  The largest Electric Fun Fly in the world is coming up.  If your not sure just ask about this event. I believe JJ is headed there for the whole week.  I think Russ and I will be coming on Wed.  and Im not sure of Bobs plan yet.  But our club will be very well represented at this event.  We even have a "Gas Guy" going.  Brent will make the trip.  Soon he will be selling all that noisy stuff and we will convert him.  Oh and we eat very well.

Speaking of Electrics:  Do you do Crack?  I mean the Crack Yak.  This little bird designed by our friend Chris Jewett is a great learning tool.  I have one myself and have flown it quite a bit.  Its a good learning tool for the aspiring 3D pilot and a guy like me.  It does bounce and can be put back in the air after any crash. ( I have proven this) Its an  inexpensive plane and the batteriues are pretty cheap.  Check one out at the field.  Even Holland has one....  Now remember he said he would never own an electric or a foamy.  See another guy that might convert.... lol

The next meeting is this Sat. 9:00 am because of the time change.  Get you Gas Nitro electric and sailplanes out on Sat. and have some fun.

Its gonna be a great year.

    Hi Everyone.

Well its New Years Eve and another year has come to an end.  It went very fast.

First I want to thank all of you for being such great club members.  Weather you fly Gas electric electic or no motor at all you can say we have a great club.  Let me see what I can bring up in my memory....

As for get togethers the fun fly on the first was well attended.  We had Heli's going a lot alot of airplanes in the air.  It was a good day for flying.

Our Fun fly CD'd by Jim Carroll went off very well.  Brent's Brother swept all the awards with his very nice P-47.  Its hard not to admire such a nice warbird.

SEFF was next and Jason with the help of some friends out did himself cooking and be a great host in Americus GA.  He was there I believe most of the week.  He had a good time and the YCF and others enjoyed it as well.

Joe Nall the grand daddy of Fun flies was up next.  BIG doesn't doesnt describe it.  You have to go to get the feel for it.  The YCF was there in force with Brent holding down a spot in the 3D area.  I only made it for a day but enjoyed my time there meeting and making new friends.

YCF DLG Festival was on Fathers Day Weekend and was success . High gas prices kept some away but we had a good turn out.  This helps our club with the finances and the guys really enjoy the contest.  Kudo's to our club....

Summer Fest had a good turn out and we had a lot alot of fun.  This was the former Big Bird and hopefully it will return but for now its a fun fly.  Brent ran this very well and it will continue on for years to come.

Fallin Eagle Electric Fun Fly.  This was Russe's first time running this event.  The weather was cooler than in the past but we still had a good turn out.  Combat really has been popular at this event.  It amazes me some of the nice builds that come to this event.  I hope this will be a great event in the future.

An impromptu Huck Fest was held. It was not a scheduled event but the food was great.  Having the Extreme flight guys come to our field is always exciting as they are very good about showing everyone how to do maneuvers they are performing.  It was windy but Chris Jewett was out flying all his battery packs out.

E-Nall was in its first year.  About 327 registered to fly.  It was windy so a lot alot of the people left early on Saturday morning.  I took my 2 girls with me and they had a ball.  Camping at the Joe Nall venue is a lot of fun.  Ill be back for this event again.  Oh and the food was great.....

I have to thank 2 people their time as servents to the club.  Doug Spirrell for his time of Treasurer to the club.  I wont say he is anal but he is anal about the club funds.  For 2 years he has kept the book in perfect condition.  Thanks for doing this Doug.  I think Norm will have an easy transition.  Jason Jones has been the secretary for his 2 year term and did a fantastic job.  This web site is because of him.  He added things I wanted like this Presidents message.  He is not only a web czar but he and Brent continue to cook great food along with Holland.  At all the events Jason my not be there but his trailer is.  He gracious enough to let others use his portable work shop so we can all enjoy ourselves.

So if haven't havent guessed it we have a great group.  Get out and fly with us tomorrow.  It might be windy but we will be out there to have some fun and just hangar fly..

    Its been a great year..

    Jeff
